Tipple

Step into the shadows of history and witness the echoes of an industry that once fueled entire communities. Each rusted machine and weathered building tells a tale of perseverance and hardship, offering a glimpse into the harsh realities of the life of a coal miner.

Students will tour the ruins where nature begins to reclaim its territory, they will find themselves immersed in a surreal landscape where the past meets the present. Highlights of this class include tours of the coal mine entrance, the tipple, the power plant, and the Coal Mine No. 8 museum.

By the end of the class, students emerge with a comprehensive understanding of coal mining's multifaceted legacy, equipped with the knowledge and critical thinking skills to engage in informed discussions about its past, present, and future.

A tour of the coal mine site is also a part of our Energy class.
