This class takes your students into a survival scenario that discusses the parallels of real-life survival with the tales of Brian from the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. We will compare and contrast the choices that Brian made and how they affected his survival situation. Students will have the opportunity to put their Hatchet survival knowledge into practice when we head outdoors to our Survival area. Can they survive as well as Brian?

Throughout their journey, the student develops essential skills that extend far beyond fire and shelter building. They learn to work as a team, fostering cooperation and empathy as they collaborate to overcome obstacles. Problem-solving becomes second nature as they adapt to unexpected challenges, unleashing their creativity and resilience in the face of adversity.
