Wetlands support a wide variety of life. They serve as a nursery for many animal hatchlings as well as an ecological filter for polluted water. By studying these diverse habitats we can learn about life cycles, food webs, and also the classification of living organisms.

During this class, the students will collect aquatic plants and animals, and make some general observations about the wetland, and how the plants and animals are suited for life there. They will make "detailed" observations about the aquatic life, and learn some basic classification skills along with learning some basic microscope skills. They will be introduced to life cycles and food webs. Students will also learn the importance of wetland habitats in relation to our environment.

Our wetlands class aims to foster an appreciation for wetlands, their ecological significance, and the need to protect and conserve these valuable ecosystems.
